An area of pale cropmarks, forming sub-square features approximately 4 metres across and arrayed in a grid pattern covering circa 110 by 80 metres, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946. They may be a result of cross-ploughing undertaken in the nineteenth century to facilitate drainage and improve the land for agriculture, and narrow ridge and furrow is visible across much of this part of Roborough Down. However given the potential for Second World War military activity in this area it is possible that they mark the location of recently removed tent bases from a military camp. They are not visible on the later available aerial imagery.
