A rectilinear, flat-topped bank which abuts Brent Hill road and measures circa 70m long by 20m wide is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The earthwork corresponds with field boundaries that define land parcels 1260 and 1261 on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map and which are recorded as ‘Little Orchard’ and ‘Long Plot’, respectively, on the Tithe Apportionment. The bank is interpreted as a possible platform of a medieval or post-medieval building which had been demolished by the mid-19th century. The small orchard recorded on the Tithe Map and Apportionment may have been associated with this building.
