Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

A series of parallel and curvilinear banks, circa 6m wide and northwest to southeast aligned, is visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. With exception of a single bank at circa SX61725303, the earthworks do not correspond with any curvilinear features shown on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps. They are, however, closely in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location, which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The earthworks are therefore interpreted as possible relict field boundaries of a medieval strip field system which had almost completely passed out of use by the mid-19th century, or alternatively the remains of ridge and furrow cultivation. The earthworks are not clearly visible on other available aerial imagery.
