An irregularly shaped hollow or terrace circa 30m by 40m in size is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as an earthwork on the south-east facing slopes immediately north of Yondertown, Cornwood.
The earthwork corresponds with the location and extent of a house or farmstead depicted on the Tithe Map for Cornwood, consisting three of buildings arranged around a central yard or garden at circa SX59395921.
A much smaller house or range of buildings consisting of only two ranges and fewer enclosure boundaries is depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map, but the hollow corresponds closely with an area depicted as rough ground. This supports an interpretation of a degree of settlement shrinkage or clearance between circa 1840 and 1880.
