Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1980, SX56SE97 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV146723.

The remains of three huts of Type 1 (SX 56 SE 19) occur in bracken at SX 5548 6195 'Hut A' ; SX 5549 6196, 'Hut B' ; and SX 5557 6196, 'Hut C'.
A: A platform 6.2 metres in diameter, raised to a height of 0.5 metres on the lower south side. The northern half has seven spaced upright blocks and slabs up to 0.6 metres high around the perimeter.
B: A possible hut with spaced stones from 0.4 metres to 0.7 metres high around the south-western half. These retain a mound of clearance debris which is now turf-covered. The original internal diameter was probably about 6.0 metres. (See related record for details of C)
There is evidence of associated walls forming small plots but these are very fragmentary and difficult to differentiate from stone dumping which seems prevalent in the area.

Butler, J., 1994, Dartmoor Atlas of Antiquities: Volume Three - The South-West, 102-5 Map 48, Figure 48.4 (Monograph). SDV137656.

Only the southern hut circle shown at Settlement 'F' to the north-west of Wotter within Shaugh Moor field system. The remains of four huts can be identified at Settlement 'F' in a patch of open ground between the houses, together with a few banks and lines of orthostats the once bounded the fields. The buildings are all in poor shape with only some of the larger blocks in place.

Fletcher, M. + Probert, S., 1998, Shaugh Moor, Devon: An Archaeological Survey (Report - Survey). SDV343481.
