A teardrop shaped mound, possibly spoil derived from the construction of the late-19th century Slade Viaduct immediately to the north, is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the densely wooded east-facing slopes overlooking the River Piall, Cornwood.

A mound is visible as a teardrop shaped earthwork.

A teardrop shaped mound circa 50m long and 25m wide is visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 on the densely wooded east-facing slopes overlooking the River Piall, Cornwood, immediately south of the Slade Viaduct.
The mound might consist of spoil derived from the construction or later strengthening of the viaduct and therefore be of late-19th century date.
