A catch meadow is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as a series of roughly parallel curvilinear earthworks ditches closely following the contours of the south-west facing slopes between Berry’s Lane and Houndall Wood, Sparkwell.
The catch meadow was possibly of post-medieval to early 20th century date and might have been associated with the former farmstead of Houndle (MDV72758) preciously situated circa 80m to the north.
The gutters are not identifiable as subtle earthworks visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and might have been levelled.
