Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.
An irregularly shaped pit circa 38m across is identifiable as an earthwork under dense tree cover on the south-east facing slopes of the Tory Brook combe, on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the 19th or early 20th century maps available to the survey and it is probable that they are the remains of a small quarry or extractive pit that predates the creation of the deer park and its associated plantations in 1700.
The pit is probably the same as that depicted on the current Ordnance Survey MasterMap base layer.
