A levelled bank is visible on aerial photographs of 1971 as a cropmark circa 2m wide and 185m long, on the south-west facing slopes north of Langage Cross, Sparkwell.
The visible cropmark does not correspond with any field boundary depicted on the 19th and early 20th century maps available to the survey but is in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, which is probably of medieval origin. The scale of the levelled earthwork might support the interpretation that the former boundary was of post-medieval to 19th century date but created within an established medieval field pattern, and was removed prior to circa 1840.
