Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map.

A pit is visible as a subtle earthwork.

An irregularly shaped pit circa 64m across is identifiable as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1965, east of Parkside Farm.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the 19th and early 20th century maps available to the survey.
The visible earthwork is interpreted as the remains of a quarry or extractive pit of probable post-medieval to 19th century date that had ceased to be used prior to circa 1880.
The pit is not identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and has probably been levelled.
