A pit or hollow circa 180m long and 41m wide is visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as a roughly north to south aligned earthwork to the east of Woodcocks Eye.
The visible earthwork corresponds with Plot 677 on the Tithe Map for Plympton St Mary, named as 'Pond Place' and listed as pond and timber.
The plot is depicted as largely under woodland on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map and remains under dense woodland on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016, although ponds are depicted on the current OS MasterMap base map.
The earthwork is interpreted as a substantial pond potentially of medieval to post-medieval date that was largely turned over to timber production by the early 19th century.
