Summary
A catch meadow of possible post-medieval to early 20th century date is visible as narrow earthwork ditches on aerial photographs of 1946 on the south-east facing slopes of a combe south of Hemerdon Siding, Sparkwell. The earthworks are not identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and have probably been levelled.

Two roughly parallel curvilinear ditches are visible as earthworks circa 1.5m wide and up to 260m long on aerial photographs of 1946, closely following the contours of a south-east facing slopes of south-flowing spring-fed stream.
The channels are probably the gutters of a catch meadow of post-medieval to early 20th century date. Such systems used springs or streams to irrigate the combe slopes rather than the valley floor.
The gutters were not identifiable as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and have probably been levelled.
