Closely spaced parallel linear earthwork banks, circa 3 to 4 metres wide, are visible on aerial photographs of 1955 onwards on the west and south-west facing combe slopes east of Voss Farm, Sparkwell.
The banks fall within two plots listed as orchards on the Tithe Map for Plympton St Mary and a combined plot depicted as an orchard on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of the 1880’s-90’s.
By 1971 aerial photographs show that the orchard trees have been cleared, revealing the roughly west to east aligned earthwork banks.
The banks remain visible as earthworks on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998-2014
