Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Curvilinear hollows or ditches 5 to 10m wide are identifiable as earthworks on the north facing combe slopes under Chaddle Wood on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The ditches flank a bank 4 to 7m wide.
The visible earthworks do not correspond with any features depicted on the Tithe Map for Plympton St Mary or the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map.
The earthworks are interpreted as the remains of a trackway, or possible two phases of a trackway, descending the combe slopes. The possible track probably predates the creation of Chaddle Wood and appears to be overlain and cut by extractive pits probably of post-medieval to 19th century date. The possible route is therefore interpreted as potentially of early post-medieval date.
