Narrow curvilinear and sinuous ditches, less than 2m wide, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from 1945 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork channels follow the contours of the northwest and northeast facing combe slopes and occupy an area of circa 5 hectares. Two of visible earthwork ditches partly correspond with water channels depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25-inch map and so have not been transcribed. They are interpreted as the gutters of a catch meadow irrigation system which was possibly associated with Ashcombe farmstead. Catch meadows were popular in the 19th century but many continued in use into the mid-20th century, although it is unclear whether this system was still in use by this time. Earthworks of two additional catch meadow systems have also been recorded to the east (MDV126333) and north (MDV126332).
