An irregularly shaped pit, circa 55m long and 33m wide, is visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthwork corresponds with land parcel 1199 on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, which is recorded as ‘Quarry in quarry plot’ on the accompanying Tithe Apportionment. An earthwork labelled as ‘Old Quarry’ is also shown in proximity to the southwest on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. This supports the interpretation that the earthwork represents a post-medieval or early 19th century quarry which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century. The earthwork is not clearly visible on other available aerial imagery owing to tree cover.
