An irregularly shaped pit, circa 77m long by 25m wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork partly corresponds with a pit feature depicted on the late 19th and early 20th century Ordnance Survey First and Second Edition maps. A circular structure labelled as ‘Limekiln (disused)’ is also shown on these maps, as well as on the 2019 Ordnance Survey MasterMap. The earthwork is therefore interpreted as a post-medieval or early 19th century quarry associated with limekiln MDV19884, which had likely passed out of use by the mid-19th century.
