Earthworks of linear and curvilinear banks, sub-oval and irregularly shaped pits and a sinuous hollow are visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthworks occupy an area of circa 6 hectares of moderate and steep northwest facing slope. The visible earthworks are possibly the possible remains of a deserted medieval settlement.
The earthworks are dominated by a long, broad and sinuous earthwork hollow interpreted as an access road for the settlement. This measures circa 10m wide, is flanked on each side by banks, circa 4m wide, and extends from a kink in the present road (circa SX57145251), westwards to a length of circa 230m, where it then flares outwards to both the north and south.
Spread out along the western edge of this road are a series of linear and curvilinear banks which define a number of rectilinear, sub-oval and irregularly shaped enclosures. The interior of these enclosures are mostly visible as shallow hollows which measure up to 15m long. They are interpreted as areas of possible building plots, with field boundary banks of an associated field system visible to the immediate west and to the east.
Those earthworks recorded on the steeper slopes to the far east (circa SX57205243) are, however, of less certain origin. Some of the earthworks correspond with features shown on the on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, including a field boundary to the south and part of the road at SX57095252, although most earthworks associated with this medieval settlement had evidently been cleared by this time.
