Sub-oval pits are visible as earthworks.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Two adjacent sub-oval pits, circa 10m and 25m long, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthworks do not coincide with any pit features depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic mapping. The earthworks do, however, correspond with an ‘Orchard’ recorded on the Tithe Map and accompanying Tithe Apportionment (land parcel 749). The earthworks are interpreted as post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pits which had likely passed out of use when the area was given over to orchard by the mid-19th century.
