Two Second World War bomb craters, just south of Brownhill Battery, are visible as circular earthwork pits on aerial photographs taken between 1945 and 1955, and indistinctly on digital images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.

Two circular earthwork pits, 8 and 11 metres in diameter, are visible on aerial photographs taken between 1945 and 1955, and very indistinctly on digital visualisations of lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. They had very clearly defined sides in 1945 and are interpreted as Second World War bomb craters, possibly from aircraft targeting Brownhill Battery.
