Depicted on the late 19th century historic map to the north of the incline.

The wheel pit header pond is shown on the Bedford Estate map of 1867 as a long narrow feature, although the late 19th century historic map depicts a more rounded feature just above the wheel pit. Much of this area is too overgrown with vegetation for a true evaluation of this feature. Probable location indicated on Houghton's plan of site feature.
