Earthwork pits and mounds are identifiable.

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the rdnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map but their approximate location does appear to be cut by a track.

Environment Agency, 1998-2017, LiDAR DTM data (1m resolution) EA: South Devon Coast to Dartmoor (Cartographic). SDV361470.

The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit depicted on the Tithe Map for Plympton St Mary but their approximate location does appear to be cut by a track.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Irregularly shaped pits up to circa 5m wide and 35m long, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 under the tree cover of Cann Wood. The pits are flanked on their north-west, largely down-slope side by similarly proportioned mounds, presumably upcast from their excavation.
The longest pit and bank appear to be bisected by a track of probable 19th century date, but beyond this Terminus Ante Quem the date of the earthworks is unknown.
It is possible that they are evidence of a former ditch and bank defined enclosure, but it seems more probable that they are small scale extractive features, such as quarries or prospecting pits of post-medieval to 19th century date, associated with the quarry to the west (MDV17588).
