A roughly circular pit circa 15m in diameter is identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 as a subtle earthwork on the south-west facing slopes north east of Nicholl’s Farm.
It is interpreted as the remains of a probable small extractive pit or quarry.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map and therefore probably predates the mid to late 19th century.
