Summary

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.
Two of the earthworks may correspond with a field boundary in this location.

Narrow curvilinear ditches, less than 2m wide, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The channels closely follow the contours of the southwest facing slope and are interpreted as 19th century water channels. They are also possibly associated with catch meadow irrigation system MDV65607 recorded to the immediate southeast. Some caution should, however, be exercised as either one of the two southern channels may coincide with a curvilinear field boundary shown in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map.
