Linear earthwork banks and hollows up to circa 10m wide and 190m long are visible as north-north-east to south-south-west aligned earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017, crossing the contours of the north-facing slopes south of Elfordleigh Farm.
The visible earthworks correspond in part with field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Plympton St Mary with the remaining, not depicted earthworks subdividing the plots, defining narrow strips circa 15 to 30m wide.
The earthworks are interpreted as evidence for strip field cultivation of medieval origin.
