Structures and earthworks of a Second World War camp likely associated with, or forming part of, Bedpark Plantation Transit Camp (MDV55126) to the south are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards. The camp occupies an area of circa 3.70 hectares, within grounds associated with Lyneham House. It comprises a number of Nissen hut type structures positioned alongside a field boundary which defines the northern extent of the camp and a row of huts alongside an access track which leads to Lyneham House. A cluster of structures, including a large pitched-roof structure, is also visible at SX57765317 which are set on a possible sub-oval earthwork platform defined by a bank and outer ditch. The camp has been almost completely cleared of structures by 1955, although hut bases of these former structures, as well as additional hut bases not visible in 1946, are visible. Hut bases and vegetation marks of former structures are visible in 1962, although all such traces of these are no longer visible by 1987. Earthworks associated with the sub-oval ditch and bank enclosure remain visible on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
