A rectangular structure, approximately 2.5 by 5.5 metres in plan, is visible on aerial photographs taken from the 1940s onwards. It has been interpreted as a Second World War, possible Royal Observer Corps, post for observing aircraft, on the basis of its glass roof (Pye & Woodward 1996). On oblique aerial photographs taken in 1958 and 2014 the roof appears to be flat on the north side of the building and pitched on the south side.
