A sub-oval pit, circa 20m long by 18m wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available 19th century mapping, although a ‘Quarry’ is shown and labelled circa 80m to the southwest on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map. The earthwork is therefore interpreted as a post-medieval or early to mid- 19th century quarry which had possibly passed out of use by the late 19th century. The earthwork is not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover.
