Earthwork banks which form part of a single curvilinear feature which has been truncated by a field boundary are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The earthwork banks are northwest to southeast aligned and measure circa 7m wide. They do not correspond with any curvilinear features shown on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps, but are in keeping with the historic field pattern depicted in this location, which is characterised as medieval enclosures based on strip fields. The earthworks are therefore interpreted as a relict field boundary of potential medieval date which had passed out of use by the mid-19th century. The earthworks are not clearly visible on other available aerial imagery.
Occupier, Cadleigh Manor, 2025, Two-part modern bund, Cadeleigh Manor, 4th February 2025 (Personal Comment). SDV366432.
A bund (in two parts) was created in 2016. Two ditches were dug to contain the stumps of ash trees, and these were then covered with a layer of soil. The trees had been felled because of an outbreak of Ash Dieback disease, at a time when the advice was to fell the trees, burn the wood and either burn or bury the tree stumps, and under no circumstances allow the timber to leave the property.
