Earthworks of two sub-circular pits are visible.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Two sub-circular pits, circa 12m and 20m diameter, are visible as earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit features depicted in this location on the available historic mapping, although an ‘Old Quarry’ is labelled, but not depicted, to the east on the late 19th century First Edition map. Earthworks labelled as ‘Old Quarry’ are also shown to the east on the early 20th century Second Edition Map. The earthworks are therefore interpreted as post-medieval or early to mid-19th century quarries which had likely passed out of use by the late 19th century. The earthworks are not visible on other available aerial imagery owing to thick tree cover.
