A possible hollow or pit circa 20m in diameter is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946. The pit is situated within the curve of a large crescent mound up to 30m wide and 90m long.
The earthwork hollow corresponds with the location of buildings depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map, annotated as chimney and shaft, immediately south-east of a D-shaped mound presumably comprised of spoil, and part of Bottle Hill Tin Mine.
The earthworks are obscured from view by dense tree cover on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2016 and lidar coverage for this area is incomplete.
The earthwork hollow might be the same as that recorded as a possible area of openworks as MDV25238.
