An earthwork pit, up to circa 50 by 60 metres in maximum extent, is visible on visualisations of lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The east part is depicted on late-19th century mapping as mature trees and scrub, and the east is in a field symbolised with orchard trees. It is still vegetation covered on the mid-20th century aerial photographs, and is interpreted as an extractive pit of post-medieval or earlier origin, that went out of use by the late-19th century.
