A sub-oval pit, circa 20m long by 12m wide, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017. The visible earthwork corresponds with a pit feature shown on the late 19th century Ordnance Survey First Edition map. It is interpreted as a possible post-medieval or early to mid-19th century extractive pit which had passed out of use by the late 19th century.
