Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Narrow curvilinear and linear sections of ditch, less than 2m wide are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The earthworks are visible to a length of circa 550m and extend from Devonport Leat northwest-wards towards Upper Road Plantation. They correspond with a more extensive curvilinear watercourse shown on the late 19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map which continues up to Northern Plantation. The earthworks are therefore interpreted as the remains of a 19th leat, possibly diverting water from Devonport Leat. A ‘Drain’ is shown and labelled in this location on the 2019 Ordnance Survey MasterMap.
