Full description

8. Power House. A rectangular, single storey, gable-ended brick building adjoining the Machine Shed. It was built circa 1920 as part of the new Philips shipyard and is described in a survey of 1928 as the 'power house and suction gas plant rooms'. The northern section of the building originally contained an electricity generating plant and the southern section a gas producing plant. The southern section now contains electrical plant. The generators were removed from the northern section in the 1950s or 60s when it was converted to a fitting shop. See report for further details.
