Summary

The remains of ten ditched and revetted pillow mounds. They measure between 6.8m. and 22.2m. in length and average 5.1m. wide and 1.4m. high, with ditches 1.3m. wide and 0.3m. deep. All are aligned with the slope and several incorporate natural boulders.

HAYNES, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV137758.

No documentary evidence to prove its existence, but it has 3 vermin traps on its summit, 6 buries on its n. And w. Slopes and a ruined dwelling house and enclosure on its lower western face (haynes).

WILLIAMSON, Untitled Source (Migrated Record). SDV230941.

Williamson states that at sheepstor large stones can be seen resting on the old ground surface. These may have been intended to form spaces to encourage the formation of burrows, or to help in the laying out of pillow mounds, or to facilitate drainage or to form the capping for artificial burrows (williamson).

Six large rectangular pillow mounds and three almost square mounds are scattered over an area centred at SX 563682.

The warren on Sheepstor was built very late, about 1850.

(08/09/1980) Centred at SX 56296817 on the west and south slopes of Sheeps Tor around 312 O.D., are ten ditched and revetted pillow mounds.
They measure between 6.8m. and 22.2m. in length and average 5.1m. wide and 1.4m. high, with ditches 1.3m. wide and 0.3m. deep. All are aligned with the slope and several incorporate natural boulders;
one at SX 56116811 about a rock outcrop. (For possible warrener's house see SX 56 NE 122).
