Sub-oval and irregularly shaped pits, between 3.5m and 12m long, are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The largest pit is enclosed by an earthwork bank, circa 16m long by 11m wide. The earthworks do not correspond with any pit or bank features in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps. They are interpreted as medieval or post-medieval extractive or prospecting pits, with an associated spoil heap, for possible tin. One of the pits to the north is possibly visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013.
