Summary
A catch meadow of probable 19th to early 20th century date is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as 2 narrow curvilinear earthwork ditches on the west facing slopes of a shallow combe west of Little Pethill, Shaugh Prior. The earthworks have been mostly levelled.

Curvilinear ditches are visible as earthworks.

Part of a ditch is identifiable as a slight earthwork.

Curvilinear ditches are visible as earthworks circa 2m wide and up to circa 70m long on aerial photographs of 1946, forming a V-shaped plan near the head of a west combe to the west of Little Pethill.
The channels are probably the gutters of a former catch meadow probably of post-medieval to early 20th century date, closely following the contours of the combe.
Such systems used springs or streams to irrigate combe slopes, rather than valley floors. Originating in the medieval period they were in widespread use in Devon in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Part of the southernmost gutter, at circa SX53526041 remains visible as a very slight earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017,
but the remaining ditches are not identifiable and have probably been levelled.
