Summary

Site of a farmstead recorded on the 19th century Broadclyst Tithe Map and Apportionment. The farm had completely disappeared by the time of the 1880s-1890s Ordnance Survey Map, presumably replaced by Loxbrook Farm.

Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Recorded as House, Barton etc on the Broadclyst Tithe Apportionment, owned and occupied by William Bowcher.

Devon County Council, 1838-1848, Tithe Mosaic, approximately 1838-1848 (Cartographic). SDV349431.

Farmstead depicted (plot 980) comprising ranges of buildings around a rectangular courtyard with an additional building to the north-east, reached by a trackway from the lane to the south-west.

The farmstead has completely disappeared apart from a Well marked in a corner of the site. It was presumably replaced by Loxbrook Farm which is now marked to the south-east.

The name, Loxbrook, is first recorded as Lokesbrok in 1281.
