A curvilinear earthwork ditch, approximately one metre wide, is visible on aerial photographs taken between 1946 and 1955. It broadly follows the contour along the side of a valley, dropping less than 5 metres over a visible extent of circa 190 metres. It is interpreted as a post-medieval or 19th century catchmeadow gutter, although it is not depicted on the available historic mapping and presumably fell out of use by the late-19th century. It could have originated from the farmstead at Fordbrook and operated as an integrated system whereby manure was mixed with the water and used to fertilise as well as irrigate the land.
