Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

A D-shaped pit circa 27m by 30m across is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946, abutting the south-west side of the A379 on the north-east facing slopes to the south of Creacombe Farm.
The pit is interpreted as the remains of a small quarry or extractive pit of post-medieval to 19th century date.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any pit depicted on the 19th or early 20th century maps available to the survey, although a quarry of similar size shown circa 127m to the south-east might support the interpretation of the earthwork, and probably therefore had passed out of use by the mid-19th century..
The pit remains identifiable as a subtle earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017.
