Terraces or banks are visible as earthworks defining rectilinear plots or enclosures on the north-west facing slopes overlooking the village of Aveton Gifford.
The earthworks correspond in part with field boundaries depicted on the Tithe Map for Aveton Gifford. The plots are not depicted on the Ordnance Survey 1880s 25inch First Edition map.
The earthworks are probably the remains of small strip field boundaries of medieval origin, some of which had been cleared prior to the mid-19th century.
The terraces or banks are not identifiable as discrete earthworks on visualisations derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2017 and have probably been levelled.
