Full description

South West Heritage Trust, 1838-1848, Digitised Tithe Maps and Transcribed Apportionments (Cartographic). SDV359954.

Turner, S.C., 2005 - 2006, Devon Historic Landscape Characterisation Mapping (Cartographic). SDV349122.

The bank is in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, characterised as derived from medieval strip fields and post-medieval enclosure with medeival elements.

NERC, 2013, LiDAR DTM data (1m resolution) Tellus: South Devon to Dartmoor, LIDAR SX6447 Tellus DTM 01-JUL-2013 to 31-AUG-2013 (Cartographic). SDV361514.

The bank is not identifiable as an earthwork.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

A bank is visible on aerial photographs of 1946 as a cropmark and earthwork up to 7m wide and 260m long on the north-west facing combe slopes west of Marwell, Ringmore.
The visible earthwork does not correspond with any boundary depicted on the 19th or early 20th century maps available to the survey but could be interpreted as in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, characterised by HLC as derived from strip fields or enclosure of medieval or post-medieval date.
The bank is interpreted as a field boundary potentially of medieval origin that was removed prior to the early 19th century. The bank is not identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013 and has probably been levelled.
