Full description

Devon County Council, 1984, DAP 3549, Historic England Archive DAP 3549/03A-04 13-JUL-1984 (CC) (Aerial Photograph). SDV363144.

Cropmarks of ditches and less identifiable linear buried features are visible.

Hegarty, C., Knight, S. and Sims, R., 2019-2020, The South Devon Coast to Dartmoor Aerial Investigation and Mapping Survey. Area 2, Avon Valley to Plymouth (AI&M, formerly NMP) (Interpretation). SDV362982.

Cropmarks of possible buried ditches up to 5m wide and 130m long are visible on aerial photographs of 1984 on the gentle south-west facing slop, immediately north-east of Sign of the Owl Cross.
South-west of the road at Sign of the Owl Cross, the linear feature may extend to the south-west for a further 180m or so. The cropmark here is less well defined and the extent of the possible linear feature has been depicted using the extent of area symbology.
The cropmarks are interpreted as a possible trackway or boundary ditch potentially associated with an enclosure recorded from cropmark evidence immediately to the south (MDV36989).
The cropmarks were not identified on any other sources available to the survey.
