Summary
Excavations undertaken on the site of new vicarage revealed the foundation trench for a wall of a Saxo-Norman timber building. Three other features, another possible foundation trench, a pit and a posthole were also thought to be Saxo-Norman in date. However, none of the features produced any dating evidence. Two sherds of Exeter coarseware found on the site could be Saxon-Norman or as late as the 13th-14th century.
