A curvilinear earthwork ditch, approximately one metre wide, is visible on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on images derived from lidar data captured in 2007. It broadly follows the contour along the side of a valley, dropping less than 5 metres over a visible extent of circa 85 metres. It is interpreted as the gutter of a post-medieval or 19th century catchmeadow, which is not depicted on the available historic mapping and presumably fell out of use by the late-19th century. It could have originated at Westentown, and operated as an integrated system where manure from the farmstead was combined with water to both fertilise and irrigate the hillslope.
