A rectangular structure is visible.

A linear cutting or terrace, circa 5m wide, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs taken from 1946 onwards and on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2013. The earthwork is southwest to northeast aligned and extends from SX51966456 to SX52466505, a length of circa 710m.
At its southwest extent, the cutting truncates the earthworks of a medieval or post-medieval field system (MDV127259) and a post-medieval leat (MDV28253). A flat-topped rectangular structure, circa 5m long by 3m wide, of a possible concrete tank is visible at the northeast extent of the cutting (visible on digital images of 2018), as well as a narrow ditch which extends from this towards the railway line. Both are possibly associated with the cutting. For much of it its length, the earthwork corresponds with a trackway shown on the 1953 to 1969 National Grid Ordnance Survey Map. This supports the interpretation that it probably represents an early to mid-20th century drain or trackway.
It has been suggested by C. Smart that this earthwork is aligned along the course that a Roman road could take, although it seems unlikely that this earthwork is associated with such a feature. The earthwork has not been transcribed.

Smart, C., 2020, Lidar Interpretation (Personal Comment). SDV363670.

The earthwork is located along the course that a Roman road could take.
