Former strip field boundaries of probable medieval origin are identifiable on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019 as earthwork banks south and west of Ludbrook Manor.
The largely north-west to south-east aligned banks cross the contours of the west and south-west facing slopes, some laterally, some obliquely.
The relict earthworks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Tithe maps for Ermington and Modbury but are in keeping with the character of the surrounding field pattern, that has been described as medieval in character by HLC.
The banks are probably therefore medieval in origin but were probably cleared by circa 1840.
