An irregularly shaped pit, circa 24m long by 22m wide, is visible as an earthwork on visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019. The pit does not correspond with any features in this location on the available historic mapping, although an earthwork labelled as ‘Quarry’ is shown in proximity to the southeast on the late-19th century First Edition Ordnance Survey map. It is therefore interpreted as a post-medieval or early to mid-19th century quarry which had likely passed out of use by the late-19th century.
