Earthworks of three sub-oval and semi-circular pits, between 11m and 19m long, with outer curvilinear banks, circa 7m wide, are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and visualisations derived from lidar data captured in 2019. The visible earthworks do not correspond with any pit or bank features depicted in this location on the mid-19th century Parish Tithe Map, or on later available historic maps. The semi-circular pit to the southeast abuts, and so likely post-dates, a field boundary along its eastern edge, whilst the outer banks associated with this pit and the adjacent pit are truncated by, and so pre-date, earthworks of a 19th century catch meadow or 19th or 20th century trackway (MDV128421). They are interpreted as post-medieval or early 19th century extractive pits with associated spoil heaps which had likely passed out of use by the mid to late 19th century.
